A Birmingham-based branding agency has launched an unusual charity campaign in a bid to share the spirit of giving with social media users this Christmas.
ORB Creative, which has offices in the Jewellery Quarter, is asking social networkers to vote for one of four charities each week to receive a donation in the run up to Christmas.
Each week voters will be able to choose from charities working for similar causes. There will be a selection of international charities to vote for during week one, animal charities during week two, environmental charities during week three and humanitarian charities during week four.
The Four Weeks of Christmas Campaign will run across LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and will link back to an interactive voting system on the company’s website, which will allow users to share their vote with friends.
ORB Creative’s clients and associates will also be asked to take part in the online vote via a Christmas card.
Robert Bloxham, Managing Director of ORB Creative, said: “We wanted to do something a bit different this year and we thought that rather than choosing a charity ourselves, we would open up the selection process to the wider public.
“All of these causes are extremely worthwhile and every year we struggle to pick just one to give to so this Christmas we decided to make a donation to four charities, voted for by the public.
“Social media is a great way to gauge opinion and we want to harness that to help us find the charities to give to this Christmas.
“We really hope that this campaign will be a success and we want as many people as possible to vote. If it goes well we would like to adopt a similar approach to all our fundraising and CSR activity.”
The charities available to vote for include Save the Children, Compassion in World Farming, Friends of the Earth, Help for Heroes and Barnardo’s. To cast a vote go to http://www.orbcreative.com/thefourweeks/.
