Serving up a launch campaign for The Cart & Horses in Winchester, the latest opening from Crafted Pubs

Beautiful new interiors, wild countryside-inspired gardens and a carefully curated food and drinks offering that celebrates the best of in-season produce are all on the menu at The Cart & Horses in Winchester, the latest opening from Crafted Pubs.

The 250-year-old, Grade II listed building in the heart of rural Kings Worthy was completely transformed following a million-pound investment, and we were delighted to work with Crafted Pubs to support the pub’s official opening.

To engage with regional media, influencers, local businesses and the community, we devised a four-month PR campaign - comprising media relations, influencer marketing, events and experiential activities, social media, content creation and review opportunities - that would firmly establish The Cart & Horses as an exciting new addition to the Crafted Pubs family. 

Prior to launch, we focused on driving awareness and building anticipation for the pub’s official opening. Supporting key milestone press releases, we drafted copy and curated content for the pub’s social media channels to ensure engaging and authentic messaging. Alongside a strategic press and social media plan, we also delivered additional activity to drive further coverage and awareness, as well as community and influencer engagement.

Our VIP launch event offered an evening of live entertainment, food and drink for local media, influencers, businesses and residents of Kings Worthy, ensuring buzz and excitement in the run-up to opening. We also hosted an exclusive VIP influencer event including an intimate al-fresco dinner in partnership with Chase Distillery - the perfect showcase for The Cart & Horses’ unique food and drink offering. 

Marking our fifth launch campaign for the client, The Cart & Horses was our biggest and most successful pub opening to date, which celebrated the distinctly unique brand, messaging and personality of Crafted Pubs. 

Our campaign achieved 120 pieces of coverage with a reach of more than 21.6 million. It also made noise on social media, reaching over 596k people on Facebook, 251k people on Instagram and boosting organic social media growth to almost 2k followers.
